I feel like I am standing just outside the door of the unknown -- at the threshold of the launch of A Separate Country. It all begins this Wednesday night -- two days from now -- at Davis-Kidd Booksellers in Nashville -- somewhat appropriate as I had my only retail job there as their first* employee (*actually, I'm really not sure now who they hired first that day.) Then, on Thursday night I'm at Landmark Booksellers in Franklin.
Funny, I remember feeling this way at the launch of The Widow of the South, too. Like I'm about to walk into a fog of the unknown. I love the folks that populate this story and feel this debt to them to be sure folks know them and care for them as I have cared for them over these last couple of years. Time will tell. For now, I've got to finish the text to Historic Carnton Plantation's handsome, new photography book and try to get everything in order so I can start the book tour.
